How much does a remodel cost…..
One of the most important questions every client wants to know what does it cost???
While I wish this answer was easy, it never is. It’s layered and complex.
There are costs that are standard for every job that don’t fluctuate that much, but there’s so many variables. Let’s look at a few.
Fixtures: Every bathroom has lighting and plumbing fixtures that can have massive ranges in cost. A client could select a standard $250 Kohler toilet for their bath remodel or they could select a Toto, with a heated seat and bidet for almost $2000.
Tile: Often times tile selection and design dictates overall cost. An easy tile like a subway or standard 12”x24” with a stack or 1/3 offset is pretty standard and straight forward in our industry, but when choosing smaller tiles in a patterns that take more time like hearringbone or asking for miter edges those put a 2-3x on tile costs.
Those are 2 items out of many that exist in a bath remodel that dictate cost greatly and which is why we stress pre-construction to walk through making all selections so price can be understood when making selections.
Our standard bath remodels start at 25k here in the Sacramento area, often times the average bathroom remodel costs closer to 35-40k on our jobs. We’ve remodeled bathrooms for 80k as well. While no two bath remodels are the same, our attention to detail and caring for our clients whether on a simple bath remodel or a full house remodel.
Price is always a factor when discussing remodel projects and I’ll leave you with a few questions to be asking your contractor when looking at bids:
What is included in your bid?
What am I as the client responsible to provide?
What happens when we uncover aspects that aren’t included in your bid aka how do you handle change orders?
How can we ensure you’re using quality products on our job? Not all products are made the same and while you may not know what quality products are your contractor should be able to identify what is quality for you and what is not.
How do you handle invoicing? never give a large sum of money before ANY work is done. We are big fans of when work gets completed payment % is due.
